AlphaTheta has officially introduced the CDJ-1500X, a new professional DJ multi player designed to bring many of the CDJ-3000X’s flagship features into a smaller and more affordable format.
Announced on July 2, 2026, the CDJ-1500X is aimed at music bars, lounges, restaurants, private venues, mobile DJs, home studios, and smaller clubs that need a professional modular DJ setup without the size or price of a full CDJ-3000X installation.
A New Middle Ground in the CDJ Lineup
For years, DJs looking for separate professional media players had to choose between older, more affordable models such as the XDJ-1000MK2 or invest in flagship CDJs.
The CDJ-1500X fills that gap.
It retains the flexibility of a traditional multi-player setup, allowing users to combine two or more players with their preferred DJ mixer, turntables, effects units, or other equipment. At the same time, its compact dimensions make it much easier to install in smaller DJ booths or transport between events.
The player measures approximately 9.9 inches wide, 14.8 inches deep, and 4.6 inches high, with a weight of only 7.9 pounds. By comparison, the CDJ-3000X weighs 13.2 pounds and has a significantly larger footprint.

The Same 10.1-Inch Screen as the CDJ-3000X
One of the biggest highlights is the 10.1-inch capacitive full-color touchscreen, which is the same screen size used on the flagship CDJ-3000X.
The large display allows DJs to view as many as 15 tracks simultaneously while browsing. Track artwork, waveform previews, BPM, musical key, cue points, loops, vocal positions, BPM changes, and phrase information can all be displayed directly on the player.
DJs can also rearrange playlists directly from the CDJ-1500X through Playlist Edit, reducing the need to return to a laptop or re-export a USB drive during an event.
Both dark and light display modes are available, making the screen easier to read in dark nightclubs, brightly lit venues, daytime events, and outdoor environments.

USB, Cloud and Streaming Playback
The CDJ-1500X supports traditional USB playback while also embracing cloud-based and streaming workflows.
Connections include:
- One USB Type-A storage port
- One USB Type-C storage port
- One additional USB Type-C port for computer connection
- A LAN connection for PRO DJ LINK
- Built-in Wi-Fi
- NFC login support
Compatible audio formats include MP3, AAC, WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, and FLAC. Supported USB file systems include FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, and HFS+, although NTFS is not supported.
Through rekordbox CloudDirectPlay, DJs can access rekordbox libraries stored in Dropbox or Google Drive. StreamingDirectPlay provides access to supported services including Apple Music, Beatport Streaming, and TIDAL, subject to the required service and rekordbox subscriptions.
NFC and QR-code login options are designed to make switching between DJs easier. A performer can sign into a compatible rekordbox account, load personal settings and access cloud or streaming libraries without manually entering account details on the player.
Eight Hot Cues and Familiar Performance Controls
The CDJ-1500X includes eight physical Hot Cue buttons, Beat Loop controls, Beat Jump, Beat Sync, and a medium-sized jog wheel with a rotation indicator and slip-resistant surface.
AlphaTheta has condensed some of the CDJ-3000X’s physical controls into the touchscreen interface. This helps reduce the player’s overall size, although DJs who prefer dedicated buttons and knobs for every major function may still prefer the flagship model.
The CDJ-1500X supports PRO DJ LINK, allowing as many as four units to be connected through a compatible network setup and switching hub. It is also compatible with rekordbox, Serato DJ Pro, and djay Pro, although certain software subscriptions or updates may be required.
CoBeat Brings Audience Requests onto the Player
The CDJ-1500X is the first AlphaTheta player to support CoBeat, a new audience-interaction service.
DJs or event organizers can create a QR code that guests scan with their smartphones. Audience members can then browse a selected music catalog, submit song requests, vote for tracks, send messages, and react to other requests.
Requests and messages are displayed directly on the CDJ-1500X screen. DJs remain in control and can enable or disable CoBeat depending on the type of performance.
This feature will likely be most useful for weddings, corporate events, private parties, music bars, and open-format performances. Underground club DJs may immediately turn it off—and fortunately, they can.
Customizable Booth Appearance
AlphaTheta has also added several visual customization options.
The illuminated front section houses the USB Type-A and USB Type-C storage ports, helping protect connected drives from being accidentally bumped. The front lighting can be changed between 12 LED colors to coordinate with the venue, DJ booth, event branding, or production design.
Optional side panels can also be attached to change the appearance of the player.
CDJ-1500X Versus CDJ-3000X
The CDJ-1500X is not simply a smaller CDJ-3000X.
Both players offer a 10.1-inch touchscreen, cloud connectivity, streaming support, Wi-Fi, NFC login, and professional rekordbox integration. However, the CDJ-3000X maintains a larger body, more dedicated physical controls, a full flagship layout, and both analog RCA and coaxial digital audio outputs.
The CDJ-1500X provides only an analog RCA audio output, and some controls that are physical on the CDJ-3000X are accessed through the touchscreen.
For major festivals, technical riders, large clubs, and touring environments, the CDJ-3000X will likely remain the preferred option. For smaller venues, mobile installations, secondary DJ rooms, private event spaces, home setups, and budget-conscious professional systems, the CDJ-1500X may be the more practical purchase.
Price and Availability
The official United States launch price for the AlphaTheta CDJ-1500X is $1,699 per player. At launch, the player was listed as available through the official Pioneer DJ Store.
A standard two-player setup would therefore cost approximately $3,398 before adding a mixer, cases, cables, sales tax, and other accessories.
Our First Impression
Based on the announced specifications, the CDJ-1500X appears to be one of the most important additions to the CDJ lineup in years.
It gives DJs access to a modern 10.1-inch interface, cloud libraries, streaming services, USB-C connectivity, eight Hot Cues, PRO DJ LINK, and professional software support without requiring the footprint or investment of a full flagship setup.
The smaller jog wheel, RCA-only audio output, and increased reliance on touchscreen controls will not appeal to everyone. However, for bars, lounges, restaurants, private venues, mobile DJs, and professional home studios, those compromises may be completely reasonable.
The CDJ-1500X does not replace the CDJ-3000X. Instead, it creates a much-needed professional option beneath it.
